INTERMEDIATE INTERIOR DESIGNER

Responsibilities:

  • Interiors support on complex commercial projects in the architectural arena through the phases of Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding & Negotiations, and Construction Administration. On projects of moderate complexity, may be interiors lead.
  • Ability to interface with clients, consultants and staff throughout project.
  • Ability to forecast potential issues related to clients, staff, budget, schedule, then develop and implement strategies with the assistance of Senior Designer/DIC / PIC.
  • With the assistance of DIC/PIC, develop work plans for projects of moderate complexity, including schedule, internal budget and staffing.
  • Ability to work with the senior staff on a complex project, adhering to the projects schedule and internal budget.
  • Ability to lead junior interiors staff through projects of moderate complexity, resolving spatial and aesthetic issues.
  • Ability to lead field-verification of existing building conditions.
  • Ability to understand and resolve code compliance issues with the assistance of senior staff.
  • Ability to conduct project research and co-ordinate specifications.
  • Ability to understand and work with furniture systems and freestanding furniture in order to specify product.
  • Ability to participate independently as a member of a programming team to gather & implement information throughout the project.
  • Responsible for the development of AutoCAD drawings and the co-ordination with senior staff for QA review. 
  • On projects of moderate complexity, responsible for the co-ordination of drawings and specifications, including consultant co-ordination.
  • Ability to interface with architectural staff in conveying design intent and code compliance. 
  • Responsible for construction administration of projects of moderate complexity.
  • On projects of moderate complexity, responsible for review of budgets & billings with accounting staff, recognizing potential issues and working with DIC/PIC to resolve issues.
  • Ability to work with DIC/PIC to develop proposals & scope change strategies.
  • Ability to recognize marketing opportunities and act upon them with the assistance of DIC/PI

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education

Requirements:

  • 5-6 years of related work
  • Previous Management required
  • Certified Interior Designer (CID)
  • Must be AutoCAD proficient
