Natomas Unified School District wished to convert this existing K-5 campus into a full K-8 program. Williams + Paddon developed the initial master plan concepts using 3D computer modeling for enhanced visualization in presenting to Board Members, Community Groups and District Staff. Of particular importance in the 3D effort was the ability to show that the playground area would not be compromised, the portable classroom building replacement could be phased, and the architecture would tie in with exiting school facilities. The project includes the construction of two 2-story classroom wings, a multi-purpose gymnasium building, a full new commercial kitchen, placement of three portable classroom buildings for non-district day care programs, site utilities and site/parking lot upgrades. The 2-story classroom buildings feature the cost benefits of factory built, modular classroom construction with a site erected 2-story pedestrian walkway that ties the classrooms together.
