The League of California Cities remodeled their 25 year old 4-story office building. As the interiors consultant on that job our scope was to assist in the selection of interior materials and furniture and collaborate with the building architect on interior architectural features. The project team’s goal was to create a professional and functional interior within a specified project budget. Several creative design features were included in the building, all with a goal of providing big impact at a reasonable cost: original redwood paneling in the building was reclaimed, refinished and reapplied in new and different ways; the giant skylight added to the second story was enhanced by acrylic panels that not only deflect glare but are hanging sculpture; the multi-story front Lobby was enhanced by sculptural lights that serve as both lighting and art and are beacons at night (important for a building that faces the Sacramento Community Theater).
