PROJECT TECHNICIAN I

Reports to: Market Leader and Principal in Charge (PIC)

Core Responsibilities:

  • The Project Technician I supports complex projects through the phases of Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding & Negotiations, and Construction Administration.
  • Will work directly with the Project Architect/Manager to develop building plans.
  • Ability to originate and produce details and provide support in the preparation of Architectural drawings, plans and construction document form Project Architect/Manager’s verbal instruction, hand sketches and/or project notes.
  • Interface with clients, consultants and staff throughout project.
  • Forecast potential issues related to clients, staff, budget, schedule, then develop and implement strategies with the assistance of Project Architect/Manager/ Market Leader.
  • Work with the senior staff on a complex project, adhering to the projects schedule and internal budget.
  • Lead field-verification of existing building conditions.
  • Understand and resolve code compliance issues with the assistance of the Project Architect/Manager.
  • Conduct project research and co-ordinate specifications.
  • Participate as a member of a programming team to gather & implement information throughout the project.
  • Responsible for the development of AutoCAD drawings and the co-ordination with the Project Architect/Manager for QA review.
  • On projects of moderate complexity, responsible for the co-ordination of drawings and specifications, including.
  • Ability to interface with all staff in conveying design intent and code compliance. 
  • Assist with construction administration of projects of moderate complexity.
  • Must be able to demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment and good time management skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree a plus from an accredited school of Architecture or minimum of 8+ years experience drafting for an Architectural firm in lieu of education
  • Must posses a high level of knowledge of Architectural documentation procedures
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Working knowledge of Sketch-Up is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop or Illustrator is a plus
  • LEED accreditation a plus
  • Working towards Architectural Licensure a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
